Tokaj
The Tokaj district is a wine region in Hungary known and recognised
world-wide. All the conditions are given over an area of six hundred
acres for the production of the world’s most noble sweet wine, the
Tokay aszú wine. The landscape closely demonstrates the established
methods of wine-production in the region, and the historical traditions
of the production of a wine speciality, since these special demands
have shaped the appearance of the cellars and wine-collectives, which
differ from the other regions of Hungary.
The Andrássy Mansion is located in Tarcal, which was already a baronial
mansion in the 16th -17th century. According to the census of 1753
Count Ferenc Károlyi received the mansion, then in the 1830s it became
the property of the Andrássy family.
The Andrássy Wine-collective started its activity in 1999 on a
vine-land of around 20 acres in the first class cadastre of Tokay
district, the fields of the Holy Cross (Szentkereszt-dűlő). By means
of the four-star quality renovation and enlargement of the building of
the Andrássy Mansion we wish to serve wine, gastronomic, cultural,
wellness, congress and business tourism, as well as recreations and
other events at a level that suits every demand.
The building complex and the vine plantation grant the special
possibility for all kinds of wine tourism with professional or leisure
purposes: visiting wine-cellars, wine-tasting, harvest, visiting of the
wine-collective unit and gaining knowledge on wine production are
equally possible.
The Andrássy Wine-collective participated as the only Hungarian
exhibitor in the International Wine Exhibition and Competition in
Beijing, where they were honoured by receiving the Wine of Wines Gold
Award from the famous international jury for their wine-collective’s
Muscat Lunel Aszú Essence from the year 2000.
