Katti Zoób
She started her career as a costume designer for the television. Then she put together a sewing team, and they prepared costumes for TV-shows and movies. When she rocketed into the fashion world fifteen years ago, she was far over thirty. She became a dominant designer in Hungary with her first ever fashion show; and by now, she has become internationally acknowledged. She works with enthusiasm, often pushing herself to the limit, but it’s clear that she has found herself, found her balance and her ideal career.
‘Katti Zoób’ is also an individual fashion label that covers a range of unique, handcrafted products, which are therefore not suitable for manufacturing. She uses fine, handcrafted materials from Italy, Spain, and Switzerland for her clothes. ‘Style is the personalised content’- she says.
Katti Zoób’s own, unique motives, the cube and the art deco-style rose makes her artwork identifiable. She aims to making clothes that reflect timeless beauty and values, and are not valid for just one season. The designer prefers pieces that can be worn for years – again and again, without becoming unfashionable. To make such clothing, she thinks, is the greatest challenge of her work.
‘I’ve been married for twenty-one years, and I have a nineteen-year old daughter. There are moments when my family faces great challenges because of me, and they try hard to get over it, and, well, catch up with me. And it sometimes also happens that in the meantime I’ll arrive to another stage of life, to a different level or state-of-mind. Yet, it doesn’t seem to make their lives harder.
I make jams and milk bread, I grow paprika in my garden, we go hiking – I do everything what any other ordinary mums do.
